A couple of weeks ago, Huami officially confirmed that the Mi Band 5 will be unveiled later this year. Now, an alleged image of Xiaomi Mi Band 5 surfaced online and has something interesting in it.
As per the new images that appeared online, the Mi Band 5 might come with a display with a hole-punch cutout in it. As you can see from the image below, the upcoming version of the band will have a punch-hole cutout to the bottom section of the screen.
No one is quite sure why there is a punch-hole cutout in a band, perhaps a camera?
If the images are to be believed then there will be some substantial changes in the Mi Band 5 when compared with Mi Band 4. Xiaomi Mi Band series is jointly developed and manufactured by Huami and Xiaomi.
The Mi Band 5 might come with a brand new oval-shaped display with a punch hole to the lower bottom of the screen. At the first look itself, you might have noticed that the hole punch is a little too big for a display of this size.
Talking about the display, this going to be a larger one from its predecessor. Mi Band 5 might feature a 1.2-inch display. To recall, the Mi Band 4 came with a 0.98-inch display.
Mi Band 5 is more likely to have NFC support on the global version. As of now, Xiaomi’s NFC Bands are only available in China. If the upcoming global version of the Xiaomi Mi Band 5 comes with NFC, then it might support Google Pay and other payment services, contactless payments, bus pass, etc.
The relatively larger screen size can accommodate more icons and texts. It will make viewing angles much better in harsh sunlight as well.
The company will unveil the new Mi Band 5 later this year. Take these images with a pinch of salt, as it is just an image with no confirmations at all.
