Bluehost is one among the industry leading Hosting provider, and they offer almost all typed of hosting for its users. Shared Hosting, VPS, Hosting, Dedicated Hosting, WordPress Managed Hosting, etc. are the some of them. Yes, they do have a particular Hosting Plan for WordPress websites. This hosting is optimized mainly for WordPress powered websites.
I am using WordPress for years, and WordPress itself powers this website. So, WordPress optimized hosting is always good for WordPress powered websites. Now, here starts the real Bluehost Review..
Is BlueHost WordPress Hosting Industry Leader?
There are hundreds of good hosting for WordPress and majority of them have Managed WordPress hosting as well. But here, What makes Bluehost different. WordPress recommends Bluehost. Below given is an extract from an official page of WrodPress.org website. Here, they recommend Bluehost for any WordPress installation. Dreamhost, Flywheel, Siteground are other three hosting recommended by them after Bluehost.
Now, What made them recommend Bluehost as official Hosting for WordPress. Well, let’s see…
Speed and Uptime
It’s been quite a lot time that I am using Bluehost, and it’s doing well. When my friend asked me to suggest him a Hosting, I told him to go with Bluehost, and I never regret it. It was one of the best suggestion that gaveled him. His site is having about 10000+ Page views a day, and the downtime is low. But, a few times Jetpack Site Monitor has detected a maximum downtime os 1 Minutes and 22 Seconds (Only once in a month or so.)
If you are using Bluehost, then adding a CDN like CloudFlare, MaxCDN, etc. and a Cache plugin like W3 Total Cache will skyrocket your Blog load time. If you are using WordPress CMS than always be sure to use a Speed optimized Theme or else your site is going to be damn slow. No visitor likes Slow websites; we should always keep our site at the lowest load time as possible.
For Speed and Uptime, Bluehost does well. But, I am not sure how this works for site receiving tons of traffic a day like 100000 or higher.
All Hosting packages that Bluehost offers have a free domain in it. What the domain is, if it is not registered then you can quickly register it with Bluehost for free at the time of buying Hosting. Yes, you heard it right. Even the lowest base hosting plan has a free domain included, Most of the Hosting company does not provide Free Domain, but Bluehost does. Free Domain service is only for the first year and from the second year onwards you should pay for it.
But, that’s not the case with Dreamhost. Dreamhost provides free Domain for lifelong. As long as you use Dreamhost hosting, you will get a free Domain all the time. You are not required to pay anything. You will be getting a Free Domain as long as you use Dreamhost. Just pay for Hosting only. Domain 100% Free lifelong on Dreamhost only.
Needless to say, Bluehost’s Customer Support is excellent. Recently, When I updated one of my plugins in WordPress, My WordPress site got cracked. The reason was the Plugin is having some error Coding and completely cracked my Blog. I was not able to Login to my Admin Panel or Front-end site. That time, I immediately contacted Bluehost Customer Support(I didn’t know that it was because of that plugin). One customer executive connected me online and told my issue. Within 2 minutes that guy Analyzed my site and told that [this] plugin is creating the problem. Right away I Logged on to my Hosting account via FTP and deleted that Plugin folder from the Plugins directory. BOOM! Everything just started working fine. That as my first experience with Bluehost Customer Support team.
Plans & Pricing
I am really happy that Bluehost has effective, simple and cheapest prices ever for such good hosting. For shared hosting, they currently have three different plans. Refer the screenshot below:
And this is their Pricing for other Hosting Packages like WordPress Managed Hosting, VPS, Dedicated, WooCommerce, etc. Have a look at them.
- Starter Pack – $6.95/mo
- Performance Pack – $8.95/mo
- Business Pro – $15.95/mo
- WP Standard – $19.99/mo
- WP Enhanced – $29.99/mo
- WP Premium – $39.99/mo
- WP Ultimate – $49.99/mo
- WordPress + WooCommerce Plan – $6.95/mo
- Standard – $19.99/mo
- Enhanced – $29.99/mo
- Premium – $44.99/mo
- Ultimate – $59.99/mo
- Standard – $79.99/mo
- Enhanced – $99.99/mo
- Premium – $119.99/mo
So, these are the cost-effective plans from Bluehost. When Comparing this plans to other industry leading HOosting companies, this seems to be fair and Cheap. That’s about the pricing part.
Free SSL Certificate for HTTPS
Recently, Bluehost started offering free SSL certificates to its users. Recently, Google has announced that SSL or HTTPS is considered as a ranking factor. Google is a lot concerned about User’s Privacy and Payment details. Latest Version of Google Chrome now marks HTTP sites as Non-Secure and HTTP sites that have login page in it will be considered as insecure by Google Chrome and will be displayed to the user in a red screen.
So, having SSL installed in your blog is a must. Yes, SSL is again a ranking factor in Google Algo.
This Free SSL Certificate service from Bluehost should be appreciated. If I miss this part in Bluehost review, then it’s going to be a great loss.
BlueHost cPanel Dashboard
Bluehost cPanel interface is really simple and well sorted. You won’t struggle to find any option or link in this user interface. All major links and option are well categorized and sorted according to the visitor. If you don’t like the arrangement of tabs in the Dashboard then you can easily rearrange them in a manner that you like the most. Simply drag and drop the widgets in the place where it should appear. That’s it.
Below is a screenshot of Bluehost Dashboard:
This is how the Bluehost Dashboard looks like. Pretty much simple and straight forward.
The final decision is completely yours. You can choose whether to use Bluehost or any other Hosting, it’s all up to you. But, I can promise you one thing, you will never feel sad because of choosing Bluehost. Bluehost is one among the industry leading Hosting provider and their services are really promising. Another specialty of Bluehost is that is specially designed for WordPress sites. If you are about to launch a WordPress site in Bluehost hosting then Green Flag for you.
