Club Penguin Online is a fan-made version of the social network from Disney. Today Club Penguin Online has announced that they are shutting down their services after receiving a copyright infringement claim from Disney.
The team has received the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) notice and will shut down the site by the end of the month.
Following this, the admin of Club Penguin Online said: “If anyone does try to revive the game, it’ll be extremely difficult now as you’ll have to worry about Disney, and in all honestly, it isn’t worth it.”
Within the last two years, Club Penguin Online managed to get 8 million users all around the world. In the last couple of weeks, the number of users on games like Club Penguin, Minecraft, etc saw a rise because of the shelter-in-place and lockdown norms existing in various parts of the globe.
It was back in 2007 that Disney acquired Club Penguin. And after ten years, in 2017 Disney officially shut the game down. The reason for them to shut down the game was because the number of users kept on decreasing gradually.
A couple of months after the closure of Club Penguin, the company introduced a new version if it called Club Penguin Island and it missed many key features that were available in the original version of Club Penguin. Eventually, Disney was forced to shut down Club Penguin Island. In 2018 they shut down Club Penguin Online as well.
It was after those other people started creating their own version of Club Penguin and published them to the Internet. Many such versions of the game were available and Club Penguin Online is one of them
It will be hard for every Club Penguin fans as the game is no more and one could not access it by any means.
