Disney+ Hotstar Now Has Around 8 Million Subscribers

Disney+ Hotstar hits 8 million subscribers

Less than a week ago, Disney+ Hotstar went officially live in India and new sources have confirmed the service to hit about ‘8 million’ subscribers. That’s such a big number for this matter. Hotstar in partnership with Disney+ revamped its streaming service with the new name ‘Disney+ Hotstar’. All exclusive content, Movies, and Disney+ Originals are available via Hotstar in India.

Hotstar did not officially announce any numbers regarding their premium service in the past. Now they have confirmed some numbers which look promising. It was rumored to be somewhere around 2 million premium subscribers for Hotstar in India but the actual number is 8 million subscribers.

Disney+ is having around 50 million subscribers globally and it was confirmed via an official blog post. There was a sudden surge in the number of subscribers, in just a matter of 2 months, the company gained about 21.4 million subscribers. The userbase was around 28.6 million in February and went all way to 50 million in April, that’s less than 2 months gap.

In the official blog post, the company told, “We’re truly humbled that Disney+ is resonating with millions around the globe, and believe this bodes well for our continued expansion throughout Western Europe and into Japan and all of Latin America later this year.”

As of now, Netflix is having around 167 million subscribers globally and Amazon Prime Videos is having around 150 million subscribers around the globe. Disney+ is also attaining a lot more momentum than usual.

The subscription count announced by the company includes both Hotstar Premium and Hotstar VIP subscriptions. They have not revealed the exact numbers of both individual subscriptions. We can expect the Hotstar VIP number to on the higher side because a majority of users subscribe to Hotstar to enjoy Cricket matches and is less expensive than the Hotstar Premium Subscription.
