Succeeding Apple, Samsung’s Exynos chipset division has become the third-largest manufacturer in the Smartphone. Apple was till the date, on spot number 3 and Samsung was at number 4, but the recent reports from Counterpoint Research show that now Samsung ranks number 3 in terms of total market share.
As of 2019, the Exynos series has a market share of 14.1%, which is approximately 2.2% higher than in 2018. Meanwhile, the market share of A series chipsets from Apple has declined by 0.5 percentage with overall market share of 13.1% and stands at position 4.
Samsung’s exceptional growth in Indian and North American markets is one of the reasons why the numbers went up.
Qualcomm and MediaTek rank on 1 and 2 with 33.4 percentage and 24.6 percentage of market share respectively. Both of their ranks are intact, the reason being a good number of budget and mid-end phones are powered by these company’s processors.
Samsung’s numbers might go up as they have partnered with vivo for their chips. Similarly, Samsung has also partnered with AMD to bring Radeon GPU tech to its Exynos lineup of chips for smartphones.
Samsung is also planning to use MediaTek processor on some of their upcoming affordable 5G phones and they are already using the same MediaTek ships for some of their select lower-end smartphones as well.
It is to be noted that the upcoming OnePlus 8 is also expected to come with the new MediaTek Dimensity chipset.
