Facebook is about to add a new info bar about Coronavirus on top of Users’ New Feed. This is will prevent the spreading and sharing of fake news related to Coronavirus. Facebook will collect data from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and add the same to the info bar in a few days.
All this effort put by Facebook is to stop the sharing of fake news and make users aware of the latest updates and how they can prevent themselves.
Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg said “We’re going to be putting it at the top of everyone’s Facebook feed”, and added Were designing it to be very adaptive on a day to day basis”.
Following this, Facebook has also announced that it would make its enterprise connectivity platform WorkSpace free for governmental agencies and for emergency services.
WhatsApp has already announced a $1 million donation to the Poynter Institute’s International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN) to tackle the ongoing situation.
