Google Removes 8 Million Negative TikTok Reviews on Google Play Store

Due to the ongoing criticism and controversies, the rating of the TikTok app on Google Play Store had reached 1.3 stars a couple of days back. But Google now has removed tons of negative one-star reviews of TikTok on the Google Play Store and it rose back to 4.4 stars.

It all started when a popular TikTok user posted a video that encouraged violence against women. Ever since then the app started getting negative one-star reviews on Google Play Store and a couple of days ago it reached as low as 1.3 stars.

Google has now removed about 8 million negative one-star reviews of TikTok as it violated Google Play commenting policy. Google wants users to submit honest reviews about an app on the platform. But Tiktok’s was a mass attack that was out of Google Play’s commenting policies.

Within a matter of a few days, the number of total TikTok reviews on Google Play Store skyrocketed from 20 million to 28 million. All these 8 million reviews were negative one-star reviews.

TikTok app on App Store did not saw any huge difference in the review. It was 3.5 which dropped to 3.4 due to the same incident. It is to be noted that the number of reviews on the App Store rose all the way to 12 lakh from 11 lakh but they did not delete the negative reviews yet.

After the popular TikTok user’s incident, the #IndiansAgainstTikTok campaign started rolling in India, and ever since the review started dropping.

Anyways it is good to see that Google finally removed the negative star reviews of TikTok on Play Store. It was all targetted to the individual TikTok users and not the app itself. So, it’s not fair to lower the review of the app for this problem. Apple might also remove these negative reviews about TikTok in the coming days.
