Back in November last year, MediaTek introduces its first 5G chipset, the Dimensity 1000. Today MediaTek has announced the new Dimensity 1000+ chipset with Dual 5G SIM Support and 144Hz display support as well.
After the initial announcement last year, later the company also announced the Dimensity 800 chipset, too.
When it comes to the new Dimensity 1000+ chipset, nothing has changed much in terms of CPU and GPU. But there are some handful of changes that matters a lot.
To take a quick recap, it is an octa-core processor with 4 x high-performance A77 cores and 4 x energy-efficient A55 cores. The maximum clock speed is 2.6GHz and comes with the ARM Mali-G77 MC9 GPU.
The real deal-breaker here is the support for a 144Hz refresh rate display. Almost all mid-range smartphones these days come with at least a 90Hz refresh rate. Some phones even come with 120Hz and 144Hz display as well. A lot of smartphone manufacturers like Realme and Xiaomi introduce tons of mid-range smartphones within 20k – 30k price bracket with a higher-end display with support for higher refresh rates. Keeping this in mind, the new Dimensity 1000+ processors gets support for up to 144Hz refresh rate.
The next big thing is the Dual 5G Sim support. As per the press release, the new tech dynamically adjusts the modem’s power configuration and operating frequency according to network conditions and user activities to significantly save power. It comes with a new 5G UltraSace power saving method to preserve some battery life.
Apart from these, it includes many other incremental features like better image processing, the gaming experience with the help of HyperEngine 2.0, and a lot more.
The first phone to come with the new Dimensity 1000+ processor is going to be a smartphone from IQOO. It has been officially announced in the launch event earlier today.
