The popular online media streaming platform, Netflix, has stopped all its film shooting and production activities so as to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
On Friday, Netflix announced that they are about to halt all the Film and TV Production activities to comply with government regulations. All their activities in the US and Canada has been halted for some time now. As we are not sure how long the COVID-19 pandemic issue exists, Netflix is not able to tell a specific date or time from which they will restore all their film producing activities.
Due to the same reason cited above, many tech events like WWDC 2020, Microsoft Build 2020, MWC, etc and other media houses have also stopped their media production works to stop the spread of the deadly virus. Not just Netflix, but also Apple, Disney, and Warner Bros have also halted all their productions in the last few days as well.
In an official statement, Warner Bros stated, “With the rapidly changing events related to COVID-19, and out of an abundance of caution, Warner Bros. Television Group is halting production on some of our 70+ series and pilots currently filming or about to begin. The health and safety of our employees, casts and crews remains our top priority”.
Coronavirus is one of the deadly contagious diseases the world has ever witnessed and almost all sectors of business including Travel, Aviation, Tourism, Technology, Film Making, etc have come to a standstill.
All these moves are taken by Netflix and other media houses to support the effort that local government of different countries takes to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Almost all countries have banned the mass gathering of people in any place like Cinema theatre, halls, stadiums, etc.
