OnePlus might launch a budget smartphone this year something similar that they did in 2015. In 2015, OnePlus launched a mid-range smartphone with a premium like form-factor. It was priced at somewhere around $250 and comes with lower specs than the main flagship devices. Now, that series is about to make a come back with a different name.
According to the rumors, the device might be named OnePlus Z and follows the same trend as the OnePlus X. According to the tweet by Max Weinbach, Oneplus plans to bring back the budget mid-range smartphone series and the naming is not yet confirmed.
I was told that @oneplus is revamping the OnePlus X under a new series…

Information also suggests that it might be the rumored OnePlus 8 Lite branded as OnePlus Z. The expected specifications of OnePlus Z include a boxy design with a lower screen size like 6 or 6.5-inch, the display might be a 90Hz panel and under the hood, it is also likely to feature a MediaTek chip. The display might feature a punch-hole cutout with the selfie camera and to the back a triple camera array.
If the leaks are to be believed then it will compete against the Google Pixel 4a and the much-rumored iPhone 9.
The company is yet to make any official announcement. And we can expect something in a few weeks. This is definitely going to be good news for all OnePlus fans out there and anyone who plans to own a mid-segment phone and that too from OnePlus.
