Samsung Galaxy M21 and Galaxy A50s mid-range smartphones get price cuts in India. After the price cut, as per the new listings on the official website of Samsung, Galaxy M21 with 4GB of RAM and 64GB Storage is priced at Rs. 13,199, and for the 6GB + 128GB variant it is Rs. 15,499.
When it comes to the Samsung Galaxy A50s, the 4GB + 128GB model is priced at Rs. 18,599 and Rs. 20,561 for the 6GB + 128GB model.
Initially, the Galaxy M21 was priced at Rs. 12,999 for the 4GB+64GB model and Rs.14,999 for the 6GB+128GB model but after the 50 percent GST hike, the updated price was Rs. 14,222 and Rs. 16,499 respectively. For the Galaxy A50s, it was priced at Rs. 21,070 for the 4GB model and Rs. 26,900 for the higher-end variant with 6GB of RAM.
The 50% GST price hike was introduced in the country last month. The rate skyrocketed from 12% to 18% directly. It left companies with no options other than increasing the prices of their device. Following the GST price hike, almost all smartphone manufacturers updated their price tag by a few hundred to a couple of thousands of rupees.
Already the smartphone manufacturers were suffering loss due to the Coronavirus pandemic. The sales were stopped both in the online and offline stores. Furthermore, the online delivery of non-essential goods is currently prohibited in India.
After May 4th there might be some sort of relaxation for the delivery of other products as well. It might include Smartphones and other gadgets. Earlier Flipkart planned to start to restart the sale of smartphones, but it was banned as per updated regulations.
