How to use Stellar Data Recovery
First of all Download the software from their official website
They have both FREE as well as paid options. The FREE version comes with a limited set of options and really low size recovery only. Purchase the paid version for more in-depth scanning and large-sized file recovery.
Once downloaded, install the software and open it up.
Opening Stellar Data Recovery, it will first ask you what type of data you want to recover. You have multiple options like Office Documents, Folders, Emails, Multimedia Files like Photos, Videos, Audio, etc.
- Office Documents – Word, Excel, PPT, etc
- Folders – All content within folders
- Emails – MS Outlook Emails, etc
- Photos – JPG, PNG, BMP, etc
- Audio – MP3, WMA, WAV, etc
- Video – MPEG, MOV, FLV, etc
If you want to recover all files then you can click on the first option called Everything which includes everything mentioned above.
Once you select the required file types, click on the “Next” button.
Now, you need to select the drive from which you want to recover files and folders. If you know where the file is missing from then you can select that particular partition or else you can select all the drives (or RAID Drives) and it may take a little longer than usual. If you want to recover files from a removable media device like Pendrive or SD Card, make sure that it is connected and select that drive from the drive selection window
You can select the Hard Drives configured in the RAID array by using the arrows to construct the probable RAID, if you don’t know the parameters.
After selecting the drive, optionally enable the “Deep Scan” option to search in-depth and it will take a little bit more time. Click on the “Scan” button.
Now, Stellar Data Recovery will start searching for the files in the drive you specified, the time taken for the process depends upon the drive size and the number of files that were there in the drive previously.
Once the scanning process is done, it will show you the stats, click on Close
Now you will be able to see all the files that were deleted from that particular drive you selected. You can use various filter options to narrow down your results. I will click on the Deleted List option from the left sidebar to filter Delete files only.
From here, search for the file that you want to recover. Click on the file and then select the Recover option from the bottom.
Specify the location where you want to save the recovered file. Make sure not to select the drive from which you are trying to recover. Let’s say that you are trying to recover from the drive C then select any other drive than C.
It will start the recovery process and the time depends on the file size. From my use, I can tell that the recovery process is pretty fast and you need not wait for long. I tried recovering a 1GB file and it took less than 2 minutes to save it to the location specified.
Open the location you specified, and you will find the file there is a folder named “#Root”.
This is how simple it is to recover any deleted files from our computer.
