5 months after surpassing the 1.5 million downloads milestone, TikTok now reached new 2 billion downloads on both Google Play Store and Apple App Store combined.
The use of the app has skyrocketed since the start of lockdown and people spent a lot of time in TikTok. TikTok is the popular short video creation app in the segment with tons of regular users pushing thousands of videos on a daily basis.
In Q1 2020, TikTok managed to bag around 300 million users. The primary reason why TikTok managed to get this many downloads is of course, because of coronavirus. To get rid of boredom people in quartine downloads the app and surfs through the pool of videos.
As per the report by Sensor Tower, TikTok got almost 315 million downloads on the App Store and Play Store in the 1st quarter of 2020.
Furthermore, this number is the maximum that any app has got in a quarter ever. India contributes the most portion of the installation. Ever since the launch of the app in the Indian market, it got around 600 million installations from India only.
As people are locked at their homes, people are left with nothing to do. People eventually find TikTok and use it for a longer period. Indians are already spending more than 5.5 billion hours on the video sharing app.
As the popularity of TikTok is rising, even Apple has created an official account on TikTok to share short product-related videos and other creative content.
TikTok is the first app to cross 2 billion downloads mark after WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger broke the record since January 1, 2014.
