Facebook released a new group video conferencing service called “Messenger Rooms” inside the Facebook Messenger app. This feature was introduced in the app in an attempt to make use of the gap in the market.
Due to the coronavirus outbreak, one of the main mediums for people to stay in touch is Video calling. Zoom has seen a sudden surge in the number of users following the COVID-19 lockdown situation.

Facebook is the social media giant with tons of userbase. All the three most popular social media services like Messenger, WhatsApp, Instagram are owned by the company itself. So they can make use of the huge userbase.
Given the fact that a good number of people rely on Zoom and other online video calling and conference services to keep in touch with their loved ones or for official meetings and online classes.
By introducing the new feature in WhatsApp, Facebook will be able to capture the market for sure. The existing userbase of Facebook will help them in attaining their target.
