CatchUp app is the new experimental app from Facebook that allows group voice calls up to 8 people. This is not something new, apps like Facebook-owned WhatsApp already has this feature. As per Facebook, one of the biggest reason why most of the people doesn't call is that they don't know what time the other person or group of people will be free. They have a feeling that might cause inconvenience or might be the wrong time. "Based on our studies, we found that one of the main reasons people don’t call friends and family more frequently is that they don’t know when they are available to talk or are worried they may reach them at an inconvenient time. CatchUp addresses this problem, and even makes group calling as easy as one tap,” said Nikki Shah, Product lead. There is a ready to talk section in the app that shows all the people who are available to talk right now. You could easily find people who are free and initiate a new call without causing inconvenience to others. You can create personalized groups by adding people you want. With this option, you can create groups for your family, friends circle, etc. This app is a part of the Facebook NPE Team. NPE stands for New Product Experimentation and tries to find new innovative products. As of now the app is available for users in the United States for a limited time. It is available for both Android as well as iOS. Do note that the CatchUp app is only having a voice call option and not video calling. If you are about to do video calling then you might want to try Messenger Rooms by Facebook. The app is now live on Apple App Store and Google Play Store, go ahead and install to see how it looks.
